Manipur government inks MoU with Infosys

CM Biren, while explaining about the Infosys Springboard, said that MoU is for enhancement of teaching-learning activities and teaching effectiveness through technology.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Department of Education, government of Manipur and Infosys Ltd on implementation of Infosys Springboard at the cabinet hall of Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Wednesday.

The MoU, meant to promote education system through technology, was signed between commissioner of Education (S), Gyan Prakash; director of Education (S), L. Nandakumar and head-corporate affairs of Infosys Ltd, Santhosh Ananthapura and senior vice president of Infosys Ltd Thirumala Arohi.

During the signing of MoU, Chief Minister N Biren Singh; Education Minister Th Basanta Singh and MLA of Patsoi constituency, Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh were also present.

Addressing the media, CM Biren extended his gratitude to Infosys Ltd for the new venture that has to be taken up under the Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme of the company.

CM Biren, while explaining about the Infosys Springboard, said that MoU is for enhancement of teaching-learning activities and teaching effectiveness through technology. The scheme has both student and teacher-oriented components and is fully aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the CM said.

He continued that the state has already adopted NEP but there is a need for full implementation. As such, this Infosys Springboard Scheme would surely help in implementing NEP effectively. Under this project that is worth around Rs 25 crore, tablets would be provided to as many as 1000 students studying in government schools in the first phase. It will cater to all the government schools in a phase wise manner, the CM added.

Biren also said that the government has launched some schemes and projects to improve the educational system in the State. Some of them are School Fagathansi Mission and Star Education, he added.

It may be mentioned that through the scheme, Infosys Springboard will provide a curriculum-rich virtual platform that delivers corporate-grade learning experiences on any device with closer educator-learner collaboration for students from Class 6 to lifelong learners.

Under the scheme, the faculty development programme will consist of series of sessions on the “Facilitate to Engage” course towards effective teaching techniques; instructional design and content creation; introduction and awareness to emerging and digital technologies; how to leverage online platform for effective learner engagement; authoring courses and assessments on online platforms.

The programme will be delivered online virtually by Infosys experts and in addition, teachers can up-skill themselves.

Infosys Springboard also empowers students through the present scheme of Student to learn by doing and develop holistically in preparation for emerging jobs and career opportunities; teaches to better collaborate with learners on their skilling journey using the platform’s engagement features; motivating to learn; leveraging the Teacher-Student relationship; Just-in-time Learning, etc.
