The All Manipur Students Guardians’ Organisation (AMSGO), on its 24th foundation day, called on all the parents and guardians to emphasise more on parenting considering the reported declining of morale among the youngsters.
Though the state is advancing towards development, morals among the youths are gradually declining, S Sumati, secretary of AMSGO said while citing the recent incident of vandalising school properties by students during COHSEM’s class 12 examination, where some parents even supported the violent students.

She was speaking to the media on the sideline of the 24th foundation day observance of AMSGO at Langjing Achouba Old Age Home in Imphal West.
Moreover, with regards to the increasing substance abuse among the youths, she pointed out that its root cause is the unaccountable and unnecessary pocket money handed to the students by the parents.
Stating that the faith of Manipur's future will become uncertain if the youths continue to walk in the ongoing trends, she stressed the need for immediate intervention on the activities of the students by the parents and guardians and carry them to the right path.
“Keeping their wards under control at a certain limit and inculcating moral behaviours by the parents is the urgent need of the hour to save the youths from further degradation and abasement,” she added.
While appealing to the student communities to abstain from any sorts of violence and uses of unfair means during examination, she also drew the attention of the authority concerned for taking up preventive measures and ensuring that such recent infamous violence by students does not repeat.
The programme was also attended by president of AMSGO Y Renglang Chothe; vice-president of AMSGO N Chaoba; advisor of AMSGO Kh Mahendra; treasure of AMSGO H Borababu; social and cultural activist Rakesh Naorem and social worker S Sijust as presidium members.
