Manipur: Decomposed body found at Marjing Hill Range

Heingang police found a decomposed body at Marjing Hill Range near Nepali Basti, Pangei, Manipur on Friday.

A decomposed body was found at Marjing Hill Range near Nepali Basti, Pangei around 10.40 am on Friday, Heingang police said.

As per a statement issued by an officer in charge of Heingang Police station, it received reliable information about the incident around 11 am the same day.

Hence, a UD case no 08/HNG-PS/2022 U/s 174 CrPc dated August 26 was registered for investigation and inquest was conducted over the body in presence of an executive magistrate, Imphal East in assistance with experts of Mobile Forensic Unit, Imphal East, it stated.

During the inquest, the deceased was found to be wearing one blue cotton half pant, one grey T-Shirt, a watch, one steel colour bracelet on right hand and one blue colour slippers, it mentioned.  

The identity of the body could not be ascertained so far, it stated. If anyone can provide clues leading to the identification of the body, kindly intimate the officer in charge of Heingang Police station through mobile no 9362089006 or the nearest police station, it said. 

The body has been kept at JNIMS Mortuary, it added. 

Meanwhile, the OC of Litan police station on Friday announced that a post-mortem examination will be conducted on the body that was found at Thawai village road under Litan Police Station in Ukhrul district.

The body that was found on Wednesday is yet to be identified and is kept at the mortuary of JNIMS, he stated. The post mortem on the highly decomposed body will be conducted on Saturday and it will be handed over to IMC unless claims are made by 12 am of Saturday, he added.
