Six student bodies of the state, including the MSF, SUK, AIMS, DESAM and the KSA have demanded the state government to convene a special assembly session and take a concrete resolution at the earliest regarding the prevailing unrest in the violence-hit state.
The student bodies, in a joint release, held the Central government responsible for causing the conflict in the state, alleging that the Central and state failed to withdraw the SoO truce with the Kuki militants despite knowing that doing the same will restore peace and normalcy in Manipur. It further demanded to remove the SoO-designated camps from Manipur.
The terror attacks carried out by Chin-Kuki militants armed with sophisticated weapons against innocent civilians is an act of foreign aggression, it condemned.
The student bodies also expressed discontentment over the alleged failure of the Central and state government to prevent further occurrence of violence and untoward incidents and instead sitting idly, the release mentioned.
It reiterated its demand to the state leaders to stop being puppets of the Centre and take a firm resolution regarding the situation without further delay. It further appealed to set aside ministerial berths and work collectively to safeguard the people and the state’s integrity.
