The Congress on Wednesday lamented the "double engine" government of the BJP for its failure to ensure peace in Manipur.
Speaking to the media at Congress Bhawan in Imphal on Wednesday, AICC Manipur in-charge Bhakta Charan Das expressed deep concern over the clashes in the state and urged the government to restore peace in the state.
He alleged that the proactiveness of the state government is yet to be seen in providing adequate relief and rehabilitation measures to those affected by the communal clash.
Terming the ongoing crisis in the state a natural calamity type, he demanded the government to ensure adequate relief, rehabilitation and compensation measures.
The AICC leader also urged the state government for speedy evacuation process of the displaced people and ensure adequate relief measures.
Das lastly appealed to the public and the state government to work towards peace building and restoration of normalcy at the earliest.
The press briefing was also attended by CLP leader O Ibobi, MPCC president K Meghachandra, former MP T Meina and other MPCC leaders.
