Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) vice-president T Mangibabu on Monday hit out at the BJP-led government of Manipur for taking the credits of all the developmental projects taken up in the state during the Congress regime.
He was addressing the gathering during a “One Day Election Awareness Campaign” jointly organised by the Wangkhei Block Congress Committee and Wangkhei Congress Election Committee on Monday at the Multipurpose Hall of Nongmeibung in Imphal.
Mangibabu also criticised Chief Minister N Biren Singh for repeatedly saying that the law and order situation in the state has become stable, stating many hideous crimes have been taking place in different areas of the state.
Citing the recent infamous abduction and murder case of Athuan Abonmai and the recent Churachanpur ambush case killing a army office, his family members and jawans, he questioned, “Is this the sign of improving law and order of Manipur?”
On the other hand, conductions of various programmes like “go to village and go to hills” are meaningless when there is no specific state budget for the programme, he asserted.
As a part of such programmes, officials of various departments were directed to open stalls during the conduction of the programme, however they were not able to deliver the necessary schemes on the spot, he pointed out alleging that villagers were instead asked by officials to visit their offices for necessary proceedings.
Congress intending candidate of Wangkhei AC RK Priyobarta also lambasted the BJP MLAs for taking up development programmes only during the time of election for vote sympathy.
Questioning what the MLAs have done in the last four-and-half year, he called on the general public to not fall into such a cheap trap of those MLAs.
As the public had witnessed the reality of the BJP-led government, the public cannot be motivated anymore by muscle and money power, added Priyobarta.
The coming election is the time to choose the faith of the public, he said, appealing to the public to cast their vote wisely for a better development of the society.
