The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Monday strongly opposed Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks regarding the division of responsibilities in tackling the Manipur crisis.

The MPCC stated that no state should be administered in a manner that undermines the unity and integrity of the region, as suggested by an agreement between the union home minister and the chief minister.
Addressing the media at the Congress Bhawan in Imphal, MPCC working president Kh Devbrata expressed concern over the remarks made by Amit Shah, as conveyed by Biren.
Devbrata criticised the notion that the chief minister should solely focus on the valley region while neglecting other parts of the state. He emphasised that the state chief minister should honour the public mandate and govern the state as a whole.
Devbrata further demanded CM Biren to apologise to the public and step down if he is unable to fulfil his responsibilities towards the entire state of Manipur.
According to the working president, the BJP has engaged with certain militant groups under SoO agreements to secure electoral victories since 2015, compromising the state's integrity.
From Amit Shah's assurance to restore peace in hills, it is clear that the BJP will continue to engage with the SoO militants to restore peace in hills, which will ultimately compromise the integrity of Manipur, he added.
Devbrata made it clear that the Congress party would vehemently oppose any steps taken by the government that could threaten Manipur's integrity.
He stated that the party would fight democratically alongside the public to ensure the government's actions align with the aspirations of the people.
Additionally, Devbrata criticised the restricted time given to the leader of CLP O Ibobi during the all-party meeting chaired by Amit Shah in the national capital on Saturday.
While Ibobi was invited to attend the meeting, he was asked to meet the Union home minister privately at his residence, where he would only have one to two hours to express his opinions, he said.
This treatment is an act of lessening the importance of the CLP leader and an insult to both the leader and the democratic system, he added.
