Manipur Congress asks Centre, state to control situation in Jiribam

The Manipur congress appealed to the Central and state government to restore the peace and harmony in the state by exercising the powers and duties of the state government provided under the Constitution of India.

The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) held a meeting on Saturday wherein it resolved to appeal to the Central and state government to control the prevailing situation in Jiribam district since June 6 immediately and save the lives and properties of the people.

MPCC president K Meghachandra chaired the meeting held at Congress Bhawan, BT Road, Imphal, stated a release. The meeting was attended by CLP Manipur leader, O Ibobi Singh; CWC member, AICC Gaikhangam; Dy CLP leader K Ranjit Singh; party chief whip, Th Lokeshwar Singh; MP elect, Angomcha Bimol Akoijam and Alfred Kanngam S Arthur; former president, MPCC, M Okendro; former president, MPCC, N Loken Singh; working presidents, MPCC, Md Fajur Rahim and Victor Keishing, ex-inister, Ak Mirabai Devi, ex-MLA Md Amin Shah and other members of the PAC, it stated.

Attendees minutely discussed the present turmoil in Jiribam District and appealed to resolve the same immediately, it stated. It also urged to properly utilize the Central and State forces deployed in the Jiribam District by giving their responsibilities provided in the concerned Act and Rules, it mentioned.

It further appealed to the Central and state government to restore the peace and harmony in the state by exercising the powers and duties of the state government provided under the Constitution of India.

The meeting also resolved to induct, MP Elect, Angomcha Bimol Akoijam as member of PAC, MPCC with immediate effect, adding that MP Elect, Alfred Kanngam S Arthur is a member of the Committee, it stated.
