Manipur CM flags off Imphal-Kohima road improvement work

CM Biren opened the Thadou Heritage Museum at Thadou Inpi-General Headquarters Complex, Kangpokpi district.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday flagged off the improvement packages of Imphal-Kohima IV(B) and Imphal-Kohima V(A) road of National Highway-2 at a programme held at Kalapahar, Kangpokpi district.

Addressing the gathering at the flag-off programme, Biren announced that the state is moving in its path of development faster under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  

“The development works taken up in various sectors by the state government is for the sake of our future generations,” he said.

Biren appreciated the MLAs of Kangpokpi district and Civil Society Organisations for their cooperation and efforts in solving the issues of land compensation along the said highway.

He maintained that different communities residing in the state have now started living together by having respect for one another. The government only wants its citizens to abide by the laws of the land. He added that the government is working under the ambit of the Indian Constitution and not imposing any law which is beyond its ambit.

He further appealed to the public that cooperating with the government’s development work could make the state more developed. He further assured that those who are affected with the road improvement work would be redressed for their loss.

Industry Minister Nemcha Kipgen said that the condition of the road would be improved with the road project. She appreciated the initiatives of Chief Minister N Biren Singh to improve road conditions of the state. Mentioning that National Highway-02 is the lifeline for development of the state, she stressed on the need for such improvement of the highway.

She also urged the NHIDCL to maintain the quality while taking up the improvement work and sought cooperation of the public in timely completion of the work.

Chairman, Planning and Development Authority Lourembam Rameshwor Meetei, MLA of Saitu assembly constituency Haokholet Kipgen; executive director, RO-Imphal, NHIDCL DS Chaudhary, deputy commissioner, Kangpokpi, Kengoo Zuringla and other officials also attended the flag off programme.

Later, the chief minister opened the Thadou Heritage Museum at Thadou Inpi-General Headquarters Complex, Kangpokpi district.
