Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi

Biren: Under the guidance and leadership of PM Modi Ji, Manipur has witnessed peace and development, which the people of the state have been longing for.

Manipur caretaker chief minister N Biren Singh met Prime Minister Narenda Modi in Delhi on Wednesday and attributed BJP’s win in the Manipur Legislative Assembly election 2022 to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that Modi will continue to inspire the party in the state

“I had the privilege to called on Hon’ble PM Sh @narendramodiJi today. Under the guidance and leadership of PM Modi Ji, Manipur has witnessed peace and development, which the people of the state have been longing for. Modi Ji’s zeal for service to people will always inspire us,” exuberant Biren tweeted.

The BJP emerged as the single largest party in Manipur, winning 32 of the 60 seats in the state assembly elections 2022. Other parties, including rival Congress party, secured single digit seats.

Earlier, speaking to reporters in Delhi amid speculations and supense over the name of the new chief minister, Biren said the Central leadership will decide on the formation of the government after the festival of Holi.

The name of the CM is yet to be decided, he said, adding that BJP is a well organised and disciplined party and the party in the state has to follow the procedure laid out and the BJP Parliamentary Board will decide on it.

On March 14, the Parliamentary Board of the Bharatiya Janata Party appointed Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as observer and Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju as co-observer for the election of the Legislature Party leader in Manipur.

Meanwhile, according to reports in national media, Pramod Sawant and N Biren Singh will continue as chief minister of Goa and Manipur respectively. An NDTV report, quoting sources in the BJP, said on Wednesday that the decision was arrived at after a series of meetings at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence to discuss the leadership issue, It also stated that the oath-taking ceremony will be held after Holi.
