Manipur Chief Minister N Biren pays tributes to first President of India Rajendra Prasad on birth anniversary

'A prominent scholar and a lawyer, his contributions towards the country will always be remembered'

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh joined President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the rest of the nation in paying tributes to First President of India, Bharat Ratna Dr Rajendra Prasad on his 137th birth anniversary on Friday.

"Humble tributes to the First President of India, Bharat Ratna Dr Rajendra Prasad ji on his birth anniversary. A prominent scholar and a lawyer, his contributions towards the country will always be remembered," Biren said in a Twitter post.

A political leader and a lawyer, Dr Rajendra Prasad served as president for two terms from 1950 to 1962. Born on December 3, 1884, at Ziradei in Patna, the former president passed away on February 28, 1963, in Patna.

President Ram Nath Kovind also paid floral tributes to Dr Rajendra Prasad, at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to Twitter to pay tributes. "His life dedicated to the nation will always be a source of inspiration for people," PM Modi tweeted.
