The Manipur BJP 2.0 government on Thursday announced its cabinet decision to grant Rs 10 lakh incentives to one beneficiary, within the age of 65 years, of every household across the state under the 'One Family, One Livelihood' scheme launched by the government.
The cabinet decision was announced during the BJP government’s first anniversary programme held at Senapati Public Ground. Before the programme, a cabinet sitting was conducted at the office of the Senapati Deputy Commissioner. The anniversary programme was organised by the District Administration Senapati.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said the scheme had been initiated to financially aid families across Manipur to kickstart their businesses and livelihoods. A budget of Rs 100 crore has been set aside for the scheme, he added.
“Anyone within the age of 65 years regardless of gender, religion and community can apply for the scheme,” he said.
He exuded confidence that the move to grant Rs 10 lakh incentive to one beneficiary of every household will significantly help in boosting the state’s economy.
“30 per cent of the Rs 10 lakh incentive will be granted as aid; the beneficiaries can use the remaining amount to further invest in their businesses and secure their financial futures,” he said.
The chief minister recalled that BJP 1.0 government-initiated cabinet sittings in hill districts of the state to carry out a ground assessment of developmental projects initiated in the hill districts and to strengthen the bond amongst communities.
“The government has always involved different hill CSOs during cabinet sittings in the hill districts to note their grievances and hear their reports on the developmental projects in the district,” he said.
On the occasion, the chief minister assured that Senapati district will be made the 2nd sports capital of Manipur after Khuman Lampak. He claimed that the BJP government had completed various projects and initiated new ones to materialise this objective.
“Senapati is the first hill district in Manipur to house a full-size astro turf football ground”, he said.
CM Biren further highlighted that construction work of an indigenous games stadium worth over Rs 10 crore would also be initiated soon. He said construction work of the Thangal General Memorial Stadium worth around Rs 3 crore will be started by April end.
The chief minister said a Critical Care Block worth Rs 28 crore will be constructed at Senapati District hospital campus. Various medical facilities including Intensive Care Units (ICU) will be fitted in the block, he added.
CM Biren maintained that the government would strive to usher development to all districts of the state. The state has entered a new era of peace and prosperity, he added.
During the programme, the chief minister along with his cabinet inaugurated 95 projects worth Rs 22,450 lakh and laid the foundation stones of 17 projects worth Rs 7,606 lakh in Senapati district.
An appointment letter was also handed over to the spouse of VDF personnel Premananda, who died during a poppy destruction drive.
Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Power Minister Thongam Biswajit, Water Resource Minister Awangbou Newmai along with other members of the cabinet, MLAs, church leaders and senior citizens were present at the programme.
A booklet and short film on the achievement of the BJP 2.0 government were released during the programme.
