The operation, carried out on Friday at around 11.30 am near Kunjabond along JT Road, resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the confiscation of illicit substances hidden within pumpkins.

The team, consisting of representatives from Jiribam Police Station and local officials, intercepted a Bolero Pick-up vehicle bearing registration number AS 11DC 3506. The vehicle, traveling from Tipaimukh in Pherzawl district, Manipur, towards Cachar district, Assam, was stopped for a routine check.

Upon inspection, authorities discovered two individuals inside the vehicle, identified as Abdul Mannan Mazumder (31) and Khalil Ulla Barbhuiya (26), both residents of Ganganagar Part-X, P.O Kalakhal, PS-Sonai, District-Cachar, Assam. Further examination of the vehicle revealed a load of bananas concealing pumpkins, which, upon closer inspection, were found to contain suspicious cut marks.

Inside the pumpkins, authorities discovered 30 soap caps suspected to contain brown sugar. The soap caps were weighed using an electronic weighing machine, totaling 363.45 gram, excluding the weight of the soap caps themselves.

The seized items along with the arrested persons were handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and necessary legal action.
