Manipur: Bomb planted at residence, sit in protest held

As per the family members, the bomb was planted by two unknown miscreants at the garage of the house on the ground floor.

Miscreants planted a hand grenade at the residence of one retired Nongmaithem Birchandra, 67 son of late Yaima of Kakching Paji leikai Ayangbung Pareng under Kakching Police station in Kakching district around 5 pm on Sunday.

As per the family members, the bomb was planted by two unknown miscreants at the garage of the house on the ground floor. Reason of the incident remains unknown but extortion is suspected.

On receiving information, a team of Kakching Police led by OC Wangkheimayum Romi rushed to the spot for inspection. A team of bomb disposal squad safely removed the bomb at around 9.45pm.

Meanwhile, locals staged a sit-in protest condemning the incident at the residence of Nongmaithem Birchandra on Monday.

Taking part in the protest, one Nongmaithem Pramodini appealed to those concerned not to carry out such terrifying incidents amid the ongoing violence in the state. Various placards were displayed during the protest.
