The mortal remains of the 10 Hmar Village Volunteers who died at the hands of the CRPF at Jiribam reached Churachandpur town on Saturday via air after intense lobbying for transportation by road via Mizoram by the ITLF failed.
The mortal remains were earlier taken to Silchar Medical College & Hospital for postmortem and were airlifted on Saturday by M17 Helicopters of IAF which reached the Helipad of 37th AR located at Mata Village by 2.40 pm.
The fact that the postmortem reports did not accompany the death bodies led the Joint Philanthropic Organisation of Churachandpur, who are tasked to organise a burial at the Martyr's Park near Khuga Dam, decided that there was no reason to claim the body shun postmortem reports. They also decided that as and when the postmortem reports come, the funeral process will begin.
The 10 lifeless bodies were taken to the Churachandpur District Hospital morgue late in the afternoon, escorted by officials of the District Police and Assam Rifles.
