Manipur Assembly passes Rs 1,686 crore as grants

A total sum of Rs 16,86,03,06,000 as demand for grants for 2023-24 for seven different demands moved on the Assembly floor by leader of the House, N Biren Singh

The ongoing session third session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly on Friday passed a total sum of Rs 16,86,03,06,000 as demand for grants for 2023-24 for seven different demands moved on the Assembly floor by leader of the House, N Biren Singh, who is also the finance in-charge.

The amount for the Information and Public is Rs 18,22, 08,000; labour and employment is Rs 73,64,00,000; power is Rs 547,74,53,000; election is Rs 30,05,95,000; science and technology is Rs 5,05,50,000; information technology is Rs 199,73,77,000 and department of tribal affairs and hills development is Rs 811,57,23,000.

Among the seven demands, opposition MLAs K Ranjit Singh, Surjakumar Okram and Th Lokeshwar raised motion for disapproval of policy cuts on three demands including information and publicity, labour and employment and power.

After deliberate discussion on the policy cuts with the concerned ministers, the seven demands were passed unanimously on the assembly floor.
