A combined security force seized a substantial cache of arms and explosives concealed inside three rice bags at Wabagai Natekhong Turenmei under Hiyanglam Police Station in Kakching district, Manipur on Saturday.
According to police, the operation was carried out under the supervision of SP Kakching District Police Thokchom Vikramjit with the directive of Additional SP (Ops) Binoi Chongtham along with a team of Kakching District Commando unit led by OC S Birla, 33 Assam Rifles, 5/9 Gorkha Rifles and BSF ‘E’ company from 4 am to 7.46 am at Wabagai Natekhong Turenmei under Hiyanglam Police Station in Kakching district.
During the operation, the joint team discovered three rice bags suspected to be hidden by unknown miscreants.
The team seized three carbines along with magazine, one air gun rifle, one local made single barrel, one single barrel, one country made 9mm pistol along with magazine, 14 .36 HE grenade without detonator, one 51mm mortar, two .2 MK-III grenade, a plastic pot suspected to be IED weighing 4 kg, four detonators, six tear smoke shell, two anti-riot rubber bullet, one stringer cartridge, two tube launching (1-A), three arming ring, one 12 bore live cartridge, 20 7.62mm AK live rounds, seven 9mm live rounds, six 5.56mm live rounds, 25 explosive cartridges, 15 7.62mm fire case, ten fire explosive cartridges, one baofeng set, one helmet, two BP cover, two BP plate (local made) and one pair of jungle boot.
A case has been registered at Hiyanglam Police Station.
