Manipur: Arms and ammunition recovered in Imphal East

The arms and ammunition included SMG Carbines, 15 HE 36 Hand Grenades, six WP Smoke Grenades without detonator; 18 2 inch Motar HE Bombs and six 75 MK-2 detonators.

A combined team of Manipur police and Assam Rifles recovered and seized arms and ammunition from the general area of Khamenlok and Nongshum, Imphal East district on Monday.

Police said the combined team comprises of two teams of Sagolmang police station led by officer-in-charge, Sagolmang police station, two teams of district commando, Imphal East and one column each of 18Assam Rifles and 32 Assam Rifles under the supervision of superintendent of police, Imphal east, A Ibomcha Singh conducted a search operation at the hill ridgeline of Nongshum and Khamenlok areas starting from 9:30 am to 2.30 pm.

In the search operation, various arms and ammunition were found concealed at the general area between Khamenlok and Nongshum village at around 2.10 pm in the presence of witness suspected to be kept hidden by unknown miscreants.

The arms and ammunition included one SMG Carbine bearing registration number 18251252 with one empty magazine; one SMG Carbine bearing registration number 15228653 and butt number 148 with one empty magazine; one SMG Carbine bearing registration number 16200912 with one empty magazine; 15 HE 36 Hand Grenades without detonator; six WP Smoke Grenades without detonator; 18 2 inch Motar HE Bombs and six No. 75 MK-2 detonators.
