A combined team of district police Imphal West and central forces seized arms and ammunition while conducting a search operation at the peripheral area of Moidangpok Maning Leinganglok, Imphal West on Thursday.
The district police received a tip-off about the presence of some unknown miscreants and hiding huge cache of arms and ammunition in and around the peripheral area of Moidangpok Maning Leinganglok under Patsoi police station, Imphal West, sources said.
Acting on the information a combined team of 5/9-GR led by major Shantanu Ghatpande, team of Patsoi police station, team of commando, Imphal West stationed at New Keithelmanbi and team of Sangaithel out-post, under the supervision of superintendent of police, Imphal West Ksh Shivakanta rush to the said area.
The combined team at around 4.30 pm cordon the area and a search operation was conducted at Moidangpok Maning Leinganglok.
During the search operation, one AK 56 with one magazine; one pistol with one magazine; two live hand grenade number 36 with detonators; 50 7.62mm live ammunitions; four country made GI pipe Pumpi gun with explosive; hundred 12 bore shotgun cartridges and twelve live ammunitions marked as EC4 were detected.
The detected items were seized by observing necessary formalities however no miscreants were arrested during the operation. Later, the seized articles were handed over to the police station concerned for further necessary legal action.
