Manipur: Arms, ammunition seized in Bishnupur

The recovered items are one SLR rifle with magazine, one carbine without magazine, four HE Hand Grenades, one 51 mm Smoke bomb, one WP Smoke Bomb and two 2 inch Para Bombs.

Security forces seized arms, ammunition and explosives during a search operation conducted at Uyumakhong village under Moirang Police station, Bishnupur district on Saturday.

A combined team of Bishnupur District Police led by additional SP OPS Bishnupur, OC CDO and OC MRG and two columns of 5 Sikh led by major Saurabh Srivastava and major Ankur Yadav and a platoon of E234 CRPF led by inspector Dalpat Singh in the presence of executive magistrate under the overall supervision of IGP Zone II, DIG Range III and SP BPR conducted the search operation in the said area from 6 am till 8 pm.

The recovered items are one SLR rifle with magazine, one carbine without magazine, four HE Hand Grenades, one 51 mm Smoke bomb, one WP Smoke Bomb and two 2 inch Para Bombs.

The items were recovered from a kutcha roadside drain near Uyumakhong leading to the paddy fields. A case is taken up at Moirang Police Station for further investigation.
