Security forces recovered arms and explosives during a search operation at suspected areas of Phougakchao Ikhai area on Tuesday.
A combined team of Bishnupur District Police and a column of 16 Kumaon Regiment under the overall supervision of IGP Zone II, DIG Range III and SP BPR conducted the search operation based on a specific input from own sources and corroborated by 16 Kumaon Regiment about the movement of miscreants and caching of explosives, arms and ammunitions in the general area Khuga river between Kolbung and Phoubhakchao Ikhai Mamang Leikai, Bishnupur district on Tuesday.
The items recovered are one carbine with magazine, one country made 9mm pistol with magazine, three 9mm rounds, four HE hand grenades, one improvised motor tube, two 51mm HE motor shell, one smoke shell, 17 improvised mortar shell, nine 12 bore rounds with belt and 200 grams of gunpowder.
The operation which started at 7 am concluded at 9 am. A case has been taken up by Phougakchao Ithai police station for further investigation.
