Manipur: Arms, ammunition recovered from Imphal West

The recovered arms and ammunition included two SBBL guns, four No. 36 HE hand grenades, two Tube launchers, two Kenwood W/T sets among others.

Security forces recovered arms and ammunition from Uchiwa Lamhang, Imphal West district during search operations and area dominations in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts on Sunday.

The recovered items are two SBBL guns, four No. 36 HE hand grenades, two Tube launchers, two Kenwood W/T sets, one 9 mm pistol (country made) with magazine, 50 ammunition, one Charger guard, one SLR gun along with one magazine and one Carbine with one magazine.

Meanwhile, security forces arrested one individual identified as Ngashingpam Siro (18 years) from Moirengthel under Tengnoupal PS, Tengnoupal District in possession of two No. 36 Hand Grenade and five 7.62 mm live rounds.

Police control room on Sunday said that movement of 257 vehicles along NH-02 respectively with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.

A total of 125 Nakas/ Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 247 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state, it said.
