Jiribam police force led by head constable N Premjit Singh on Thursday seized 599 cases of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) during frisking of trucks carrying various goods at Leingangpokpi near Driver Union Office, Jiribam along NH-37.
The frisking drive supervised by the IC of Narcotic Cell, Jiribam ASI A Keishna Sharma, was conducted as part of the continuous drive against illicit liquor with the upcoming 12th State Assembly Election, 2022.
The seized illicit items include 100 cases of 500 ml Tuborg beer cans; 399 cases of 500 ml Kingfisher beer cans; 30 cases of 750 ml Blenders Pride Premium Whiskey bottles; 50 cases of 750 ml Royal Stag bottles; and 20 cases of 375 ml Royal Stag bottles.
The illicit items were seized from a Tata Truck, with license number ASOICC-3257, heading towards Imphal from Silchar, Cachar. The driver of the truck has been identified as 30-year-old Khundrakpam Bobo Singh, son of Kh Tomba Singh from Moidangpok Maning Leikai, Imphal West. The Jiribam Police force arrested the driver to proceed with necessary legal actions.
