As per the calendar of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Churachandpur organized the 3rd National Lok Adalat for the year 2024 on Saturday at the District & Sessions Court Churachandpur from 10.30 am onwards.
There were two benches - Bench 1 was presided by Lamkhanpau Tonsing, District Judge, District & Sessions Court cum Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Churachandpur (DLSA) and Advocate Grace Chiinhoihniang and Advocate H. Lalthomawi as members; Bench 2 was presided by Tongminthang Haokip,Judicial Magistrate First Class, Pherzawl and Advocate Lucy Lalsangpui and Mrs. Janice Vungbiakching, Counsellor as members.
During the National Lok Adalat, Janggoulen Haokip, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum District Legal Services Authority Churachandpur, along with the staff of DLSA, Staff of court and advocates were present to provide assistance to the Lok Adalat benches and the general public.
A total of 77 cases were taken up on the occasion out of which 69 were settled while 38 cases pending before the Courts in Churachandpur were taken up, out of which 33 were settled and disposed of. The settled cases relate to bank recovery cases, matrimonial disputes, money suits/pre-litigation and other civil cases.
Further, 23 loan defaulters from Canara Bank, State Bank of India, Churachandpur branch, Punjab National Bank, Central Bank of India, Singngat and 13 others pre-litigation cases were also settled amicably, after both the parties reached a mutual consensus as to the due amount.
A total amount of Rs 92,74,450 was settled in the said Lok Adalat.
The National Lok Adalat was organised by DLSA Churachandpur in collaboration with Manipur State Legal Services Authority. It concluded at 2.30 pm.
