Manipur: 12-year-old drowns in Arong river

The body was fished out from the river by a professional diver Md Ashadullah from Urup at around 4.8 pm Saturday.

A 12-year-old minor drowned in Arong river near Athokpam Mayai Leikai in Thoubal district at around 2.30 pm on Saturday.

The body was fished out from the river by a professional diver Md Ashadullah from Urup at around 4.8 pm. The deceased minor has been identified as one Khangembam Abungcha alias Malem, son of late Kh Somen. A team of state SDRF reportedly arrived around 10 minutes after the body was found.

It is learnt that the minor was staying with one Ibemcha, his aunt. He was studying at Class V in Athokpam Junior High School.

It may be mentioned that Md Ashadullah alias Eshing Maiba has personally recovered around 418 victims of drowning.
