Ten tribal MLAs of Manipur have urged the chief minister to appoint a new Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister in-charge to look after the affairs of tribal and hills efficiently and effectively.
In an appeal letter to the chief minister, the 10 MLAs said that the Tribal Affairs and Hills Department has been rendered defunct due to absence of the Minister of Tribal Affairs and Hills, Government of Manipur for the last 10 months and urged him to look into the matter.
It pointed out that the department is becoming more crucial in this hour of crisis to look after the needs and development of tribal and hill areas of the state so as to bring over-all peace and progress.
It also highlighted the difficulties faced by the innocent citizens of the state owing to the prevailing unrest and reiterated its appeal to appoint a new Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister in-charge.
The letter was signed by Chandel MLA SS Olish; Phungyar MLA Leishiyo Keishing; Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah; Chingai MLA Khashim Vashum; Karong MLA J Kumo Sha; Mao MLA Losii Dikho; Tadubi MLA N Kayisii; Tamei MLA Awangbow Newmai, Tamenglong MLA, Janghemlung Panmei and Nungba MLA Dinganglung Gangmei, it mentioned.
