Man, who killed his own kids, sent to judicial custody

The accused stabbed his four-year-old daughter and two-year-old son to death with a sharp weapon on March 26. He also attempted to kill his wife.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West on Monday remanded Chingtham Surjitkumar alias Murphy of Changangei Maning Leikai, who is accused of killing his two children and attempting to murder his wife on March 26, to judicial custody till May 25.

According to the report submitted by the IO of the case, Surjitkumar stabbed his daughter Chingtham Poireinganbi (4) and son Chingtham Diamond (2) to death with a sharp weapon on March 26. He also attempted to kill his wife Nameirakpam ningol Chingtham ongbi Abesana.

During the course of the investigation, police recovered a blood-stained knife and hammer, suspected to have been used by Surjitkumar in committing the gruesome crime.

The IO then made a prayer to the court to remand Surjitkumar to judicial custody for further investigation.

 After listening to the IO's report, the court remanded Surjitkumar to judicial custody till May 25.
