A man allegedly killed his two children and stabbed his wife before allegedly killing himself at Changangei Maning Leikai under Lamphel Police Station, Imphal West in the early hours of Saturday, sources said.
Police said Chingtham Surjitkumar, 42, son of (L) Ch Ibochou of Changangei Maning Leikai allegedly killed his children, four-year-old Poireinganbi and two-year-old Diamond, using a knife and a hammer. He also allegedly stabbed his wife Abesana, 36, before committing suicide by slitting his own throat.
According to sources, Surjitkumar had been drinking continuously during Yaoshang festival. When he finally stopped drinking after Yaoshang, he began to start talking to himself, they said.
Fearing that Surjitkumar might have lost his mind, his brother consulted a shaman to perform a treatment, it said. When Surjitkumar noticed the shaman’s arrival at his residence, he lost his temper and shut his doors. Soon after he shut the door, his wife ran out shouting, covered in blood, followed by Surjitkumar with a knife and a hammer in his hand, the source continued.
Surjitkumar along with his children were later found dead in his room, it added.
After the Singjamei Police Station filed a case, the State Forensic Science Laboratory team examined the crime scene. The bodies of the accused and his children were handed over to RIMS mortuary while the injured Abesana had been admitted to Raj Medicity.
