Man injured in bomb blast near Sugnu

A bomb allegedly planted by suspected militants went off at Nazareth village located near Sugnu town on Sunday.

A 22-year-old youth sustained injuries when a bomb allegedly planted by suspected militants went off at Nazareth village located near Sugnu town on Sunday.

The injured has been identified as Yumnam Vopenjit, son of Yumnam Bishorjit from Langmeidong Mamang Leikai under Kakching district.

The incident reportedly occurred around 2:30 pm Monday when a group of people went into Nazareth village to search for one Ngangom Navy from Sugnu Mandop who went missing on May 29 during a mob attack to destroy a suspected Kuki militant camp at Nazareth village.

The bomb reportedly went off when the search party unknowingly triggered it during their search operation.

Yumnam Vopenjit reportedly sustained injuries in the neck from blast splinters and was rushed to Kakching Khunou PHC for first aid and later admitted to RIMS Hospital, Imphal.
