A man was found dead at Khujailok river near the entrance of Moreh Turel Wangma Meetei Leikai under Moreh Police Station in Tengnoupal district on Thursday.
The body has been identified as one Seiminthang alias Thangboi Lupho, 28, son of (L) Seilal Lupho from Canan Veng, Moreh Ward No VII.
Moreh Police Station has registered a case in connection with the incident. Seminthang had left his house around 10 pm and Wednesday and did not return, as per sources.
Meanwhile, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the murder of Seiminthang Lupho has demanded the authority concerned to nab the culprits within 24 hours.
On failing to fulfil the demand, all forms of agitation shall be initiated from 6 am of Friday and any outcome that may arise shall be the sole responsibility of the authority concerned, stated a release.
The discovery of the killing has sent shock waves among the residents of More border town. Clear case of murder is being observed with the body bearing wounded marks, it stated. It is very unfortunate that such a case of homicide could happen at the heart of Moreh border town where adequate security measures are supposed to be in place, it stated. One wonders as to how such random killing could take place right under the nose of security forces, it mentioned.
