As many as seven candidates will be vying for the lone seat of the Inner Manipur parliamentary constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha election with one independent candidate among the other six.
On the last day of filing nomination papers i.e. Wednesday, RPI (Athawale) candidate Maheshwar Thounaojam; BJP candidate Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh; Congress candidate Angomcha Bimol Akoijam; Rashtriya Janhit Sangharsh Party candidate Moirangthem Totomshana Nongshaba; Universal Family Party candidate Ngasepam Nilakanta Singh and independent candidate Haorungbam Sarat Singh filed nomination papers to the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West district.
Manipur People's Party (MPP) candidate for Inner Lok Sabha RK Somendro Singh @ Kaiku had filed his nomination paper on Tuesday to Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West district.
Speaking to the media, Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West, Thokchom Kiran said that seven candidates including one independent candidate have filed their nomination papers. In total, thirteen nomination papers were filed from seven candidates.
Nomination papers were filed in a peaceful manner and the scrutiny will be conducted on Thursday (tomorrow) at 11 am at the same complex, the deputy commissioner said
He appealed to all voters to come out and cast their votes.
