As Manipur went to poll on Friday in the first phase of the 18th Lok Sabha Elections, 2024, the two Kuki-dominated districts, viz. Churachandpur and Kangpokpi saw two contradictory faces.
As per sources, many polling stations in Kangpokpi district wore deserted look as no voters turned out to vote till 1 pm. According to the Voter Turnout app of the Election Commission of India, Kpi district saw a turnout of 21.87 per cent, which sources say were Nepali and other Naga voters of the district.

On the other hand, Churachandpur district saw about 50 per cent turnout in Model Polling stations numbering in Four; as per Voter Turnout app of the Election Commission of India, Churachandpur district saw a voter turnout of 43.67 per cent till 1 pm.
This comes in contrast to recent dictates by various Kuki CSOs including Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) and CoTU that had called on the Kuki community to boycott the 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024 in view of the ongoing current crisis.
