Polling for the Phase II Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency across 13 assembly constituencies spanning eight hill districts in the state concluded peacefully with 76.06 per cent voter turnout on Friday, although an isolated incident of booth capturing took place at few polling stations in Ukhrul district.

While senior citizens and first time voters were seen exercising their franchise in Tamenglong district, Kukis came out in large numbers to vote in Kamjong district.

However, zero voters turned out at three polling stations, namely P/S-49/68 Taphou Kuki, P/S-49/69 Changoubung and P/S-49/75-A, B Kotlen located at Kuki inhabited areas in Senapati district.

Meanwhile, the three Special Polling Stations among 45 polling stations situated at Moreh in Tengnoupal district completed polling around 11.30 am. Due to power outages, the polling is reportedly being held without any internet service in Moreh. The blackout resulted due to a heavy storm which hit the state on Wednesday. Power was briefly restored on Thursday evening and Friday morning. The electoral process became challenging with the outage. Internet services are also reportedly affected in Pherzawl district.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Tangrei village in Ukhrul district Mungchan Zimik was reportedly abducted by unknown miscreants around 8 am, as per sources.
