Lok Adalat settles 258 cases amounting to Rs 2.30 crore

MASLSA in association with the HCLSC and DLSA conducted the 3rd National Lok Adalat for the year 2022 on August 13 at various places across the state.

The National Lok Adalat on Saturday took up as many as 361 cases and settled 258 cases, including 21 cases, which were pending in the courts. The total settled amount in today’s National Lok Adalat is Rs 2,30,08,056 (Rupees two crores thirty lakhs eight thousand and fifty-six).

As per the calendar of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with High Court Legal Services Committee (HCLSC) and District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) organized the 3rd National Lok Adalat for the year 2022 on August 13 at various places across the state.

The National Lok Adalat for Imphal East and West district was jointly organized by Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with Imphal East & Imphal West District Legal Services Authorities at Lamphel Court Complex.

The National Lok Adalat was also held at Bishnupur, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur, Chandel, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal & Jiribam districts and in the High Court of Manipur. Cases relating to bank recovery, civil disputes, family matters (except divorce), insurance matters, domestic violence cases, BSNL bill cases, NI Act (cheque bouncing cases) are put up in the National Lok Adalat.

Justice MV Muralidaran, Judge, High Court of Manipur & the Executive Chairman of Manipur State Legal Services Authority visited the National Lok Adalat held at Thoubal Court Complex for the districts of Thoubal and Kakching, and later at Lamphel Court Complex and interacted with the presiding officers/members of Lok Adalat bench and members of Bar.

As per the Calendar prescribed by National Legal Services Authority, the next National Lok Adalat will be held on November 12, 2022.
