Locals staged a sit-in protest at Moirangkhom in Imphal West on Tuesday afternoon to condemn the alleged atrocity carried out by personnel of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) at Moirangkhom and Yaiskul area late Monday and early Tuesday.
The protest was organised by the Yaiskul Joint Committee, a conglomerate of local clubs and meira paibis from eight localities, demanding legal action against the RAF personnel involved.
The committee accused the RAF personnel of engaging in acts of violence that disrupted the peaceful environment and instilled fear among the people, particularly those residing in the relief camp.
They alleged that the RAF personnel fired tear gas, rubber bullets, assaulted civilians and vandalised vehicles and properties.

Meanwhile, Speaker Th Satyabrata visited the protest site and expressed strong condemnation against the RAF action.
He assured the protestors to raised the matter before the competent authorities to ensure that such atrocities nature of the central forces does not repeat in the future.
The demonstration aimed to draw the attention of the concerned authorities and prevent the repetition of such acts of atrocity by central armed police forces or paramilitary personnel in the locality and demanded withdrawal of RAF.

Speaking to the media, co-convenor of the committee Chingamkham ongbi Keisham Jamuna expressed concern over the aggressive nature of the RAF personnel towards innocent civilians who have been suffering since the crisis began.
She urged the authorities to take appropriate action against those responsible for the alleged atrocities and the vandalism of vehicles.
The protestors held placards with messages such as "Central forces should safeguard public property, not demolish it," "We condemn the act of central forces," "Don't implement divide and rule policy," and "We want peace," among others.
