The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chandel under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) organised a one-day legal awareness programme as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on Saturday.

The one-day legal awareness programme on the topic, ‘The Negative Effects of Voter Negligence or Nonvoting’ was held at Kanankhu Village Community Hall, Chandel District 

Advocate Kh Jacky Lucy Lamkang attended as the resource person of the programme. She highlighted the voting system in a democratic country and she spoke on ethical and informed voting. The resource further mentioned about the responsibility of a voter and the demerits of negligence and nonvoting by a voter.

The village authorities, para-legal volunteers, local civil organisations, students and youths of local clubs and organisations took part in the programme.

The programme concluded with an interactive session with the participants.
