A promising young striker Lalkhanlen shines bright with his marvelous hat-trick to sail Jamsat Songtun Youth Club (JSYC) through to the pre-quarterfinal round in the ongoing KFA's Open Night Football Tournament at D Phaihel village in Kangpokpi District.
Lalkhanlen found his first goal and the opener against Tintong Football Club, New Keithelmanbi in the early 3rd minute before adding another two goals in the 38th and 40th minutes to give JSYC a comfortable 3-0 win over the New Keithelmanbi side earning a spot in the quarterfinal round.
Earlier, in the first match, TYPOM Maohing thrashed United Saparmeina Youth Club with a similar 3-0 to book a berth in the pre-quarterfinal round. Seivanglen (26'), Letjahao (52'), and Lungoumang (70') scored for the Maohing side.
In the second match, JSFT Saparmeina area overwhelmed Ekou Mulam 3-1 to enter into the pre-quarterfinal round. Satkhohen (3'), Laljakap (61'), Jangkhosei (84') scored for the Saparmeina side while Thangminsem (31') scored for the Ekou Mulam side.
Meanwhile, in women's volleyball, Saikotjang Youth Club defeated Kikim Team in a two straight set (25/14, 25/19) in the first round while Kangpokpi Women Police defeated Volleyball Lovers in a 2-1 set (18/25, 25/21, 25/23).
In men's volleyball, Lomgol defeated Friends of Unity in a straight two set (25/9, 25/18) while Gelbung Youth Club defeated Chalbung Youth Club in a similar two straight sets (25/18, 25/24).
