The Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) is fully geared up to observe the ‘Mera Tha’, which is a sacred month on Meitei lunar calendar, for a month in a grand manner, starting from day one which falls on September 26.
During these 30 days, the LSTB will be conducting a series of cultural activities starting from day one. A narrative photo gallery, ‘Sanagi Ningshing Sagai’, which will highlight the history of establishing the Sanamahi Temple at the sacred location of ‘Heiying Khongban Uphong Yumpham’ in Imphal West, will be inaugurated.
The series of cultural programmes include ‘Laining Khongchat’ which will take a cultural procession at the Kangla Fort, Thou Niba (cultural dance and song performance) on the day eight, Meira Leirik Taba on the last 15 days among others, said LSTB member secretary Shivadutta Luwang while speaking to the media at the office of LSTB in Imphal West on Tuesday.
He said that a book on Sanamahism compiled after organising various conventions will also be published in Meitei-Mayek as a part of the month-long observance.
The observance will further include a 15-day workshop in collaboration with the Manipur University of Culture with the aim to make the board also an institute of Sanamahism, he mentioned.
The workshop will continue at different places on other days, he said.
He further informed that the LSTB had established its Piba Loisang and Ningol Loishang. The oath taking ceremony of its representatives will also be done during the ‘Mera Tha, he added.
