Moreh celebrated the Chin-Kuki-Mizo harvest festival of Chavang Kut 2022 under the theme ‘Our Culture Our Identity’ in the presence of Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister Letpao Haokip, who assured equal development opportunity for all irrespective of caste and creed.
During the celebration programme held on Wednesday, Letpao Haokip said that a government job will be given to one member of every household within five years and all roads in Moreh town will be black-topped within two years.
The minister said that Kut festival is a platform where all peace loving people come together with the goodwill to share love and to celebrate the occasion with the display of the rich culture of the people of Chin-Kuki-Mizo.
The celebration was also attended by Hill Area Committee chairman Diganglung Gangmei, 43 Karong assembly constituency MLA J Komo Sha, 53 Tamenglong assembly constituency MLA Jamhenlung Panmei, Wangoi assembly constituency MLA Loken, CO of 5 Assam Rifle colonel Raza Israel, Moreh town committee convenor in-charge Cecilia Chinneivah Haokip, BTCC president V Shekhar, KCA Tengnoupal president LS Seikhojang Baite, SP Tengnoupal B Golianmang and Tengnoupal DC Ranjan Yumnam.
The main attractions of the celebration were the displays of the rich cultural items of the different communities of Chin-Kuki-Mizo along with the Miss Kut and Mr Kut beauty pageant.
In the beauty pageant, Lheineichong Caroline Touthang from New Shijang village was crowned Miss Kut 2022 and Travis Thangminlen Touthang was crowned Mr Kut 2022.
As part of the festival, many traditional games were also played on the first day of the celebration, while Manipuri artists including Sori Senjam, Rani Sharma, Kamboi Baite and Gouhou Live band enthralled the crowd.
