‘Kuki villages to be held responsible’

Suspected Kuki militants ambushed on oil and LPG gas tankers on Tuesday between Kaimai and Tollen village under Tousem subdivision of Tamenglong district Manipur.

A meeting at Kaimai village in Tamenglong district on Wednesday resolved that Kaimai Kuki and Tollen village should be held responsible of any consequences if any attacks on moving trucks happens or occurs again in near future in Rongmei Naga areas.

The resolution was adopted during the joint meeting of Tollen village chief and Kaimai along with Rongmei Naga Council Manipur and its units including Rongmei Naga Student Organisation Manipur, Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation, Rongmei Naga Luphuam and Joint Tribe Councils at Kaimai village.

The joint meeting was organised by Rongmei Naga Council Manipur, following the firing upon convoy of trucks by Kuki miscreants on Tuesday between Kaimai and Tollen village under Tousem subdivision of Tamenglong district Manipur.  

The meeting also strongly condemned the cowardly and heinous act committed by the Kuki miscreants who undermined the owner of the land.

Another resolution stated that due permission and acknowledgement of Kaimai Rongmei village shall be taken in case of new settlements and extension in the territorial jurisdiction of Kaimai.

The joint meeting also resolved and agreed to cooperate with all the public and security agencies for peaceful coexistence in the village and surrounding areas and not to disturb the flow of traffic along National Highway-37 (Imphal-Jiribam) road in near future.

The agreement was signed free will and without force or duress by Rongmei Naga Council Manipur president KC Savio, Rongmei Naga Student’s Organisation Manipur president Daichuipao, Rongmei Naga Luphuam president Chingdinliu Panmei, Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur president Richard Kamei, Joint Tribe Council Co-Convener Mathiuchunbou, Tollen Chief Lamkholhun Haokip and Kaimai village authority secretary Ngulla Guite.
