The Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Shillong celebrated its Diamond Jubilee with great exuberance at the North Eastern Hill University Convocation Hall, Shillong.
The occasion was attended by Rev Dino L Touthang, former president of KSO Shillong from 1978-1979 as chief guest while J Lhungdim, IDAS retired, former advisor of KSO Shillong, and Sasang Vaiphei, president KSO general headquarters, who is the former president of KSO Shillong attended as guest of honour and functional president respectively.
IPS Lamthang Singsit, former president of KSO Shillong (1980-1981) attended as the Jubilee Pa, and Professor TT Haokip, former president of KSO Shillong (1987-1988) attended as the chief host.
A jubilee procession was led by the historic event chief host Professor TT Haokip before an invocation by Rev Hemkhomang Haokip, Pastor, Kuki Worship Service Happy Valley.
The present KSO Shillong president,Jangkhohao Hangshing while greeting the mammoth gathering, in his keynote address, said that the Diamond Jubilee celebration is a significant and momentous occasion to cherish the 60 years long journey.
While highlighting the history of KSO Shillong, Hangshing recollected the various achievements, successes, and huge contributions of KSO Shillong in making the Scotland of the East a more beautiful city and the abode of clouds a more peaceful state.
Acknowledging the vast role and dedication of former KSO Shillong leaders towards the Kuki students in particular and the other students as a whole, KSO Shillong led by its president Jangkhohao Hangshing honoured the former leaders with a souvenir each in recognition of their selfless service and dedication in their respective tenures.
"It was a historic occasion celebrated joyously and enthusiastically by all cherishing the long 60 years of journey of KSO Shillong," Jangkhohao Hangshing added.
Leaders from Mizo Students' Union, Zillai Shillong block, Siamsinpawlpi Shillong, Zousang Naupang Pawlpi, Gangte Students' Association, Hmar Students Association, Naga Students' Union Shillong, Research Scholar from NEHU, Nagaland, KSO Guwahati, KSO-General Headquarters, students, parents, guardians, and church leaders also attended the occasion.
The celebration was marked by cultural dance and traditional dress showcased by KSO Shillong Cultural Troupe and Kuki Chate Kiloikhom (KCK), ARC Shillong.
