KPA extends support to BJP in Manipur

The Kuki People’s Alliance (KPA) on Friday extended support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the formation of a new government in Manipur.

KPA president Tongmang Haokip along with its two newly induced MLAs Kimneo Haokip Hangshing of Saikul AC and Chinlunthang of Singhat AC submitted their letter of support to Governor La Ganesan on Friday.

KPA was formed a few months before the commencing of the 12th Assembly election of Manipur. The party filed only two candidates and both candidates won the election.

Earlier, the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and Naga People's Front (NPF) who won six and five MLA seats respectively along with two indipendent candidates extended unconditional support to the BJP in the formation of a new government.

The BJP came out with an absolute majority by winning 32 MLA seats.
