KIMACS condoles death of Thang-Ta artiste

Thongam Josh Meitei from Nongpok Sanjembam Shangsabi, who played a crucial role in promoting and preserving an indigenous martial art of Manipur, Thang-Ta, lost his life in an accident on November 29.

Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) has condoled the sudden demise of Thang-Ta artiste Thongam Josh Meitei in a recent road mishap.

KIMACS stated in a release that Thongam Josh Meitei from Nongpok Sanjembam Shangsabi, who played a crucial role in promoting and preserving an indigenous martial art of Manipur, Thang-Ta, lost his life in an accident on November 29.

The incident occurred on November 29 while he was returning home after rehearsing for a cultural event to be performed at the closing ceremony of the Sangai Festival 2022.

Thongam Josh Meitei was a former student of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy and Malem Apunba Thang-Ta Maheikol.

His untimely demise is a great loss for the state, KIMACS said, while extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
