Khwairamband Ima Keithel reopens amid unrest

The Khwairamband Ima Keithel Coordinating Committee for Peace opened the market after the chief minister provided several assurances to it.

Amid the prevailing unrest in the state, the Khwairamband Ima Keithel in Imphal reopened on Monday.

The Khwairamband Ima Keithel Coordinating Committee for Peace announced to lift the cease work strike and open the market for commercial activities from Monday after meeting Chief Minister N Biren Singh in connection with the ongoing crisis in the state on Saturday

Speaking to the media at Khwairamband Keithel, coordinator of the committee, Kongbrailatpam Dhaneshori asserted that the committee resolved to lift the strike after the chief minister provided several assurances to the committee.

During the meeting with the chief minister, “the committee raised various concerns regarding the crisis such as abrogation of SoO with Kuki militants, stopping the shootouts at various periphery locations, resettling of displaced villagers, keeping territorial integrity of Manipur intact among others,” she said.
