Gadimjang village celebrated Platinum Jubilee, marking the 75th year of the village, under the theme “Our village, Our responsibility” at Gadimjang (Khoupum) under Noney district, Khoupum subdivision on December 8 and 9. It was organised by Gaidimjang part 1 and 2 village authorities.
Gaikhangam Gangmei, former Manipur Deputy CM and Dinganglung Gangmei (IAS retd), HAC chairman graced the programme as chief host and functional president respectively.
In his speech, Gaikhangam said the credit goes to the forefathers who worked hard with righteousness, did good deeds with a clear vision of the future that their children and grandchildren, celebrate such a great festival today.
He further elaborated the history of the village too.
Dinganglung Gangmei, calling for peace and integrity, called on the gathering to disclose their good rich culture of villages with one voice.
Hannah Kamei Director TD, James Panii, SDO Khoupum and Jangailung Ruangmei (MCS) SDO Kamjong also attended the program as guests of honour.
Gaibirei Ruangmei, khullakpu khoupum, and Daisingam Gangmei, Luplakpu khoupum, unveiled the platinum Jubilee Monument in front of all the congregations.
Speaking to the media, Platinum Jubilee Committee said the jubilee was set to be organized in 2018. However, due to unavoidable circumstances and crisis it was postponed multiple times.
Cultural dance, Ho-hoing, release of platinum jubilee souvenir, commemoration of those who lost their lives who contributed greatly towards the village and presentation of gifts to sisters of Gaidimjang who married outside were also being performed.
The Platinum Jubilee was attended by Village Authority leaders from nearby Villages and many other prominent leaders like religious leaders, gazetted officers, social and political leaders and the event was a grand success with a flag de-hoisting by Functional president Dinganglung Gangmei.
