Locals of Khangabok Part-3 held a sit-in protest at Khangabok Makha leikai on Sunday, urging the authorities concerned to find the truth behind the alleged suicide of Kshetrimayum ongbi Linthoi.

Speaking on the sidelines of the protest organised by the JAC against the suspicious death of Kshetrimayum ongbi Linthoi alias Nungsitombi, JAC co-convenor Thokchom Roshan expressed strong suspicion in the case.

Roshan said the statements given by the deceased family differed from the ones issued by locality members. He expressed suspicion that Linthoi could have died due to torture. He also warned the government of various form of agitations along with the CSOs if they failed to give a positive response by December 7.

After the sit in protest, the protesters along with the JAC members thronged the Kakching Police station reiterating the JAC’s demand to arrest the culprits involved.

The JAC members along with former BJP candidate of Khangabok AC And social activist Kh Menjor held talks with police officials. The protesters dispersed from the police station following the assurance from the police concerned.

It may be mentioned that deceased Linthoi @ Nungsitombi from Khangabok was married to Mahesh from Kakching Laithagol Leikai and is survived by a four-year-old son.

Linthoi was brought to Ema Hospital, Kakching bazar on November 30 at around 10am after allegedly consuming pesticide. But she was later referred to Shija Hospitals for further treatment where she succumbed on December 1.

It may be recalled that a group of people from the deceased maternal home expressed suspicion over the death and opposed the carrying out of her last ritual rites on December 1. The body was again taken to JNIMS morgue after a complaint was filed to the police.
