Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Friday announced several development projects for Kangpokpi district during his visit to the district.
Addressing the reception cum felicitation of the chief minister and his council of ministers at Thomas ground in Kangpokpi, CM Biren announced that Kangpokpi-Tamenglong road will soon be converted into a National Highway.
The development work of Thomas Ground with an outlay of Rs 9 crore, which include developing the football ground, retaining walls, multipurpose hall, compound wall, among others, will begin in the next three months, the chief minister informed.

The chief minister also informed that market sheds will be constructed at Keithelmanbi and Saparmeina at the cost of Rs 20-30 lakh per unit depending on the number of vendors.
CM Biren assured the denizens of Kangpokpi that a hostel will be constructed at Kuki Football Academy. He also assured that the road towards Omega school will be constructed in the next 15 days.
The chief minister also informed that Rs 75 lakh have been sanctioned for construction of a playground at Konsakhul.
The suspension bridge at Yangkongpao will be examined under appropriate work programmes. Also, Thadou Inpi office cum auditorium will be constructed, for this a meeting will be held separately, CM Biren added.
