With no response from the BJYM and the BJP even after the expiry of its four-day ultimatum in connection with the K Orphanage incident on September 16, the CSOs of Kangpokpi have decided to picket the BJP Sadar Hills office from September 26 and continue its ban on any BJP-related activities in the district.

The CSOs Kangpokpi also decided to launch various forms of intense agitation if the BJYM and the BJP failed to respond to the demand of the Leikot area people and the village chief within one week's time.

Speaking to the media, the spokesperson of CSOs Kangpokpi Thangtinlen Haokip said that the decision was taken during a joint meeting of the CSOs Kangpokpi following the expiry of the ultimatum on Sunday.

He recalled that on September 16, BJYM volunteers and Imphal West Police Commandos handed over an individual identified as Mangminsei Kipgen to Gamnom Saparmeina police with a bullet injury on his left leg.

He continued that the security forces denied firing any bullet on their part in the incident and it was the BJYM volunteers who chased, caught, and handed over Mangminsei Kipgen to Gamnom Saparmeina police with the bullet injury.

According to Mangminsei Kipgen, said the CSOs spokesperson, when he was found by one of the BJYM volunteers, he surrendered and begged not to shoot him with folded hands but the BJYM volunteer shot him in his leg.

Not only that, they beat him even with a baseball stick and forced him to take photos with the drugs (tablets) they [the BJYM volunteers] threw upon him which he threw away two/three times by saying that the tablets did not belong to him claiming that only one soap case was in his possession. But, the BJYM volunteer hit him with a baseball stick and forcefully took a picture of him along with the drugs. Later, in the morning, Mangminsei saw his photo taken along with the drugs the BJYM volunteers threw upon him and also with a small arm that did not belong to him as well, Thangtinlen Haokip added.

He also wondered as to why the police failed to apply the same law and act upon the one who committed a bigger crime when they could accordingly apply the law upon a drug peddler with such a grievous bullet injury.

It was the BJYM volunteers who chased, caught, and handed over Mangminsei Kipgen to Gamnom Saparmeina Police and there were no other parties involved in the incident, he added.

He also cautioned the BJP, the mother organization of the BJYM, to take serious note of the situation before things are blown out of hand.
