A victim of a militant attack in Kangchup hill amid the unrest in Manipur succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning at Shija Hospitals, Imphal, sources said.
According to the sources, the deceased suffered injuries in an attack by Kuki militants at Kangchup hill on June 2, 2023.
The victim has been identified as one 48-year-old Noren alias Ingocha, son of late Labanga of Sagolband Nepra Manjor Leikai. He was rushed to Rj Medicity and was later shifted to Shija Hospitals. A bomb splinter was found on the right side of Noren’s head, reports stated.
Family members and people took the body to his hometown after conducting a post mortem at RIMS mortuary. A procession with placards was held on the streets while taking back the body.
The procession moved towards Sagolband Road and headed to Mayai Koibi crossing and passed through went towards Tiddim Road through Takhellambam Leikai, Khwairakpam Leikai, Maisnam Nongthomba Leikai, Meino Leirak Machin and Moirang leirak before reaching his birthplace in Nepra Manjor Leikai.
The procession also chanted various slogans including, “Save the territorial integrity of Manipur, Go back Assam Rifles, Long Live Manipur”.
