A two-day State Level Kachai Lemon Festival 2022 was inaugurated at Kachai Local Ground, Kachai Village, Ukhrul district on Thursday.
The 18th edition of the festival was organised by Kachai Fruit Farming and Processing Cooperative Society Limited under the theme ‘Organic Kachai Lemon for Sale Environment and Rural Transformation’.
It is sponsored by North Eastern Council (NEC), government of India; EBADA; MIDA; MOMA; state horticulture and soil conservation; Trade commerce and industries; state tourism department; NABARD; MACS and ICAR.
During the festival, 360 stalls were opened and as compared with the previous years, 300 metric tons lemons were produced in the festival, and it has been recorded as largest lemon produced till date.
During the function, three farmers were given best Kachai Lemon prize while the best exhibitor prize was also presented.
Additional chief secretary P Vaiphei; director state Horticulture and Soil Conservation Honey Chara; general manager, NABARD, Manipur Regional office M Srinivasa Rao; joint director, ICAR Research Complex for NHE region, I Meghachandra Singh; project director MIDA and MOMA horticulture and soil conservation, K Debadutta Sharma and project director, EBADA and BRVDB, N Loyalakpa attended as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Later, as a part of the festival, horticulture experts gave awareness on modern plantation of horticulture crops for better yield.
